HERE IS A REVIEW OF MY YEAR

FILM........ADVERTISING.......SONGWRITING

2006 has been an interesting year for music for me.... its been all about variety. I started the Year doing a bit of work for my old collaborator Steve “Chick” Mclaughlin composing and playing on some Cues for Dino di Laurnetiis Produced David Leland Directed movie. Virgin Territory. This saw my music being recorded at Abbbey Road Studio Two for the First time by a orchestra! Whilst the strings on this piece were recorded at Abbey Road, the Drums Bass Guitar and Keyboards were all recorded at another studio MINE.

2006 saw the emergence of my humble basement studio and the beginning of my collaboration with Drummer Nick Cash. Nick has been an inspiration for me this year and has helped me record and produce many new songs this year. (It has been one of my best ever years for songwriting)

February saw my 50th Birthday and my first live show a Partial re-unions of my two main bands of the last 30 years. The Members and the Wise Monkeys.

Advertising was another sector where hard work finally paid off, along with Mark Mellor at Air Music I composed the music for the Tesco’s Green Clubcard Carrier Bag Commercial Campaign... this was done for the Red Brick Road Agency. AS Tesco’s say every little helps.

Back in my Studio I completed the first of many Internet music collaborations this year writing and record a The Nine Minutes “Into the Ether” Electro Suite whith musicians from Russia, America, Netherlands France and Southamton. Over the year I have completed many internet only collaborations with Singers Musicians and Songwriters from all around the world and Surrey. Some of these collaborations can be found here.

The Internet has been a great airing place for my Music this year with multiple plays on my two Internet Music Portals, Soundclick and Myspace. In the last year I've racked up (at the time or printing) 23,267 plays. I do not offer my songs for free download.. Songs are available for Streaming and tasting only.

August saw the first Gig (For the Portobello Film Festival) for my new Band originally formed with Nick Cash and remnants of THE MEMBERS (NIGEL BENNET) AND THE WISE MONKEYS (ELIETT MACKRELL)... This was the first Gig for the band who would become JC and the Disciples.

Other Film music jobs have involved a last minute rush job. Working for Julien Temple on the new Joe Strummer Film. which was an unexpected pleasure as I have known and played on the same stage as Joe many times over the years.

An unexpected meeting led me recording and producing Four Songs with local singer songwriter Ros Degenhardt (with her Brother Hugo on drums) as demos for her album.
.
November saw a Quick trip over to Miami and the Keys and a re-union with the My old Mate Lee and the now Miami Based Wise Monkeys.
.
November and December also saw the Internet Release of my Self Recorded album. THE ROCK IS IN THE lapt0p and shows to promote it at Venues such as INN ON THE GREEN in Ladbroke Grove and The Underworld in Camden. My Live Band (JC and the Disciples) has formed into a more permanent nucleus and we are looking for Festival work in the summer.
